Dr. Kathleen Cooney is founder and owner of Home to Heaven, P.C., a mobile euthanasia service based in northern Colorado. To date, Dr. Cooney has helped over 2500 pets pass peacefully in the comfort of their homes. She currently employs four veterinarians to provide additional in-home euthanasia twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. She is a strong advocate for education and teaches in-home euthanasia techniques, along with client communication, to junior veterinary students in Colorado State University’s veterinary medical program and she is pleased to have been chosen for the AVMA’s new euthanasia panel for 2010. Dr. Cooney is also writing a book for veterinarians regarding the many facets of in-home euthanasia. In the winter of 2010, she completed the first ever Pet Loss Companioning certification program offered in the United States. She is a regular contributor to a local Fort Collins newspaper, is an active member of the Fort Collins Dog Network, and is a member of the pet hospice program at Colorado State University. Dr. Cooney has created this site to help families find in-home euthanasia providers in their area. She receives calls and emails everyday from pet owners all over the country looking for help. The directory will help them learn about the benefits of in-home euthanasia, find providers easily, thus allowing more pets to be at home, where they want to be. |
